Language Of The Soul Part Three
When we sing in church the songs should be God’s thoughts repeated back to him, we should sing fully from the heart with joy and thankfulness. Spiritual singing stems from being filled and overflowing with the divine spirit of God and his glorious word. As the body of Christ we should unify as a fellowship for the growth of the church, Remember this means all of us. Satan tries many tricks to hold us back and we need to break the chains to further the kingdom of God through everything the creator blessed us with. You can see how important music is so we need to prepare our hearts when we attend church which includes putting on our Sunday best clothes. Please read our article on Sunday Best for an understanding of this topic. God sings about us so we should sing about him:
God deserves our praise because its beneficial for us and it pleases the creator joining our voices with the heavenly hosts. Singing conditions us all for the beautiful day when we will sing with the Lord and listen to heavenly music on the new created earth. Singing is a form of ministry we can teach in song form.
So what is more important as Christians music or the Bible when we attend church?
Musicians are highly privileged to play music holding an almost priestly office as they try to speak to each of us in song form. How do they bring us into the presence of God? With guitar riffs, light shows, wearing shades and expensive clothes?
Do they gyrate there bodies in a way that is sensual?
Do they give us lyrics that totally engage the mind which then satisfies the Spirit?
Are the lyrics true and God focussed, clear with nothing compromised or slang words?
Contemporary pop-rock is universal music in every country. 93% of churches use electric guitars, bass and drums, some say rock worship is creative, expressive and produces spiritual leaders that will speak and connect to all the masses, yet in the 1980s there was strong opposition of all forms of Christian rock, and some wanted it banned totally from church. Some Christians have stopped going to church for the loudness it plays music and the reduced times for scriptural reading, less prayer time and meditation. We can also say rock music played very loud can cause abnormal imbalances of hormones, just as it can bend minds, so is there Godly living in rock music?
Rhythm has always appealed to man’s sinful nature. The bible teaches us to dance with the use of music and instruments but in spirit and truth.
In The New Testament melody is just as important and is the fruit of the lips.
“I will declare Your name to My brethren;
In the midst of the assembly I will sing praise to You.”
18 “And do not be drunk with wine, in which is dissipation; but be filled with the Spirit, 19 speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord, 20 giving thanks always for all things to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.”
Today we have African swayed music in society derived from Pagan beliefs and brought to America via the slaves. Rock music has roots in the tribes of Africa and the beat has also been influenced heavily by Country Western music.
Many articles and books attack artists and genres of music but our articles want to give the facts and the truth, it is down to the individual to decide themselves the way to go foreword. God created us with a heart beat and is the creator of Rhythm he fashioned mankind to be creative and have musical expression. So decide yourself how artists sing and conduct themselves on interviews and social media. If we look around today we observe many people that have headphones plugged in what does this mean?
Humans constantly indoctrinate themselves through melody, what we listen to shapes and moulds who we are. Headphones are like an umbilical chord to virtual reality, music players, phones and radio followed by MTV give us total immersion into secular music. 1980s was the culture of stimulation found in video, internet and virtual reality. Today we have a very unstable world in which we live in from drug addiction, teen pregnancy, lack of respect for moral standards, rape, murder and many more some people use music as a way of escape and act on instruction by indoctrinating themselves with what they see and listen too. So we learnt the roots of rock music, Rock is a slang phrase for fornication and was from the slave culture not only and from the 15th century was carried to the West Indies and onto America which slowly muted into Rock and Roll as tradition and culture expressed themselves.
American singer Songwriter Sister Rosetta Tharpe was born March 20th 1915 and is the Mother of Rock and Roll. She was born in Rosetta Nubin in a cotton plant in Arkansas US. She heavily influenced Elvis, and is accredited for the first crossover artist. She is the original Soul Sister crossing sacred and secular, Pop Gospel rose because of her.
Rock and Roll is said to be slang for sex in cars and has always been linked to the Occult, magic, superstition and drugs. Rock is derived from the old English Roccain, related to the Old Nordic Rykkja meaning, to pull, tear or move. We then have Blues, Jazz, Gospel adaptions of hymns, RNB etc. Rock and Roll is very sexual in Trixie Smith’s 1922 Blues ballad,
“My man rocks me with one steady roll.”
Some say Blues rejected Christian faith and went for illicit sex, drugs, and dancing girls as a show of rebellion. What we can say rejection of faith or not these actions are not in the will of God or truth in The spirit. Jazz music is believed to have been invented in New Orleans in the red light district to regulate prostitution and drugs. Everything seems very anti Christ in music and if you look hard and understand through The Holy Spirit you can see we have Spiritual warfare and Musical warfare constantly attacking mankind. Allot of secular music is anti family and teachings from the parents what is right and wrong. David Bowie said:
“Jesus Christ was a strange boy himself. Rock is the Devils music.”
Strange in what way? Jesus would probably think we are strange and alien to what what was once very good, to where we are now. Rock is the Devil’s music what do we make of that remark? If rock music has been linked to the occult as we mentioned above is he correct? David Bowie is said to have paved the way for Bisexuals acceptance into the field of rock music. Then we have shock tactics in melody bands like Marilyn Manson who took his name after a mass murderer, Alice Cooper who also took his name after a famous axe murderer. Today Alice Cooper has stopped his shock tactics and hard partying life and in the 1980s till today returned to Bible Christian roots and openly discusses his faith. What can we say here? Amen.
12 “Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long upon the land which the Lord your God is giving you.
How do we interpret bands with names like Jesus Eater, The Jesus Lizard, Fear of God, Denial of God, Blind idiot God, Lamb of God there are many more names and musicians that want to move away from God and stamp there mark on society, or should we say Satan’s mark. We must remember music feeds our senses so sound, light shows etc cause maximum impact to our senses even softening of the voice and direct eye contact makes it personal, so what message do artists try to give us?
The band KISS some people say stands for Knights In Satan’s Service, which they have never flatly denied. Some operas are suggestive, with fornication and adultery themes. Jesus Christ Superstar the musical was produced by atheists in 1970 this was mainstream entertainment that questioned the authority of the gospels they said:
“Human beings for some reason have always liked having God’s something to do with centering aggression for tribal survival.”
Yes we like having one God and centering love for human salvation.
We have had some artists having sex on stage, acting out sexual fantasies and twisting words that look harmless like Let me put my love into you by AC/DC there are many more. Marylyn Manson is said to be a member of the church of Satan and rips up bibles on stage as has openly said:
“I want to end Christianity through music.”
Most rock music is repetitious and even some songs are very hypnotic in sound, there is evidence that people have been hypnotised with suggestive melody, and lets not forget back-beat which dominates all rock music. So we can say we can get drunk on music it is intoxicating, this is exactly what Satan wants too inebriate our Spirit through musical warfare. Rock concerts on average are 84-118 decibels sometimes 120-130 decibels if this is a Christian rock band how can you hear the words? Christian rock came about in the late 60’s and some mock Christianity in a subtle way and the church. Almost all country, blues and early rock-punk rock music use the Three chord called Tritone. Tritone is probably the most famous interval of them all and has gained the nickname “The Devil’s interval.” and it appears allot in Jazz music. Tritone is an interval or two pitches sounding at the same time. I am not going to write more on tritone research yourself on this topic if it interests you.
The Devils Interval, the chord of evil, or diabolus in musica which is Latin for the Devil in music.
Some say Discos are usually owned and run by homosexuals and its asking homosexuals to come close and dance together.
What we can say here is homosexuality is a sin in the bible please read our articles homosexuality take one and homosexuality take two for a true understanding of this topic. In 1977 songs with explicit lyrics were popular which included pornographic, violent and sadistic content. Jimi Hendrix claimed he slept with over 1000 woman which is fornication. Why would you be proud of this fact? It is giving in to temptation to worldly pleasures out of the will of God.
1 Corinthians 6:18
18 Flee from sexual immorality. All other sins a person commits are outside the body, but whoever sins sexually, sins against their own body.
Aleister Crowley is featured on album covers, in songs and heavily influenced artists who is he?
Aleister Crowley teachings helped form the ideas taught in the Satanic Temple in America. He identified himself as a Prophet entrusted with helping mankind into the Eon of Horus in the early 20th century. He was a drug user, bisexual and social critic and was thought to be a satanist. How can the BBC rank him as the seventy-third greatest Briton of all time?
Why has The Beatles got a picture of him on Sgt. Pepper album cover? and John Lennon said they were more popular than Jesus? Ozzy Osbourne wrote the song Mr Crowley in 1980, David Bowie makes references to him in the song quicksand in 1971. Jimmy Page from Led Zeppelin bought the property he lived in Boleskine in 1971?
So we know the 1960s was ripe for drug abuse, Marijuana end of the 1960s and LSD. The Rolling Stones Brown Sugar song is really slang for cocaine, and Rock music is the strongest drug in the world. In 1969 we had Woodstock where 500,000 people attended a music concert full of dope, sex and immorality. There are lots of other forms of music I have not touched on like Death Metal and Nu-Metal like Slipknot or Korn that sing with brutality and head banging. Would Jesus have head banged?
We know there are bands that are rebellious in there names like Bad Manners, The Vibrators, The Damned to mention a few. Most rock artists had long hair and tattoos as standard but in Leviticus it clearly states no tattoos and this is still relevant today.
28 You shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor tattoo any marks on you: I am the Lord.
We had bands like Metallica and Van Halen in the 1980s come to the front, hard rock was a fusion of aggressive, sex, drink, drugs, and occult type music. World music was formed which is rock fused with folk. Late 1980s pop rock was established through rebellion and sexual freedom. Grunge style developed like Nirvana, which led to grunge metal and hip hop. Techno rock became a fusion of punk electronic sounds. We had the sexual revolution in the 1960s and flower power in the late 1960s early 1970s and is the so-called counterculture of drugs, psychedelic music, psychedelic art and social permissiveness.
Remember music empowers people I hope this article helps to raise awareness in the benefits and the advantages of music education. God has established moral standards for music from the Old to The New Testament. Jesus heightens them in The New Testament for us to be renewed in the Spirit of our minds and true holiness. We are a chosen generation, a Royal Priesthood:
1 Peter 2:9
9 “But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light.”
Any music that turns the listener to desires, drugs, sex, or any other forms of immorality has no place in true worship of Jesus Christ. Music should be sung on the rock of scriptures not on the world’s false ideas.
