Deuteronomy 23:1 Testicles and penis cut off.
Atheists like to attack this bible verse and I have read this quote:
“Without a cock ‘n’ balls. You should see what customs is like!”
In ancient times Jewish people did not allow proselytizing which means convert or attempt to convert (someone) from one religion, belief, or opinion to another or by foreigners. Therefore all men who joined the congregation in any assembly of God whether in tabernacle, church or temple, had to be born jewish, had to be circumcised, and could not have been castrated or mutilated sexually.
There were those in those days who were idol worshippers who would emasculate or mutilate themselves as a form of devotion to their pagan gods. God did not want any people to worship in this way as he was and is the only one true God, the Lord wanted to keep the jews pure and jewish. So foreigners were not welcome unless they converted to Judaism, and submitted to circumcision. Those whose penis or testicles were removed, castrated or crushed so as to make them unable to reproduce, were often considered Eunuchs and were banned from service in the jewish community because they were betrothed into servitude for life, and forbidden to reproduce.
The eunuchs of the Bible were usually castrated males or those incapable of reproduction due to a birth defect. A eunuch could also be someone who performed jobs typical of eunuchs, although he remained perfectly capable of having sexual intercourse. The purpose of intentional castration was to induce impotence and remove sexuality. It was a common practice in ancient times for rulers to castrate some of their bondservants and/or advisers in order to subdue and pacify them. It was especially common to castrate men who tended the royal harem. Queen Esther’s eunuchs are mentioned in Esther 4:4.
Natural eunuchs include those who are born with a physical defect, but they also comprise those who are born with no real desire for marriage or sex. Forced eunuchs are those who have been castrated for whatever reason. Voluntary eunuchs are those who, in order to better serve the Lord in some capacity, choose to forgo marriage. God calls some people to remain single and therefore celibate.
Some gay groups and atheists argue that Jesus was referring to homosexuals when He mentioned eunuchs who were born that way. However, the Bible never uses the words homosexual and eunuch interchangeably Furthermore, eunuchs are never referred to in Scripture as being in sin, while homosexuality is universally condemned in both The Old and New Testaments. The word homosexual was not coined until the late 19th century it did not exist before then it wasn’t until 1869 that Dr Karoly Benkert created the term by combining homo the Greek word with sexual the Latin word. Including the word homosexual in scripture was a choice of the translators, it was first mentioned in 1946 and did not appear in a The King James Bible in 1611 because the words had not been invented then. Many words have been added to the English language since 1611 to give us a better understanding like the bible which was translated over thousands of years.
