If God Exists Why Do Bad Things Happen?

One of the biggest reasons mankind has a hard time believing in God, if God exists is why do terrible things happen all around us?

We live in an environment full of hate, war, pain and disease. There are so much suffering and death in the world on a global scale. Personally, we have all experienced grief, loss, and hurt in some way or another then we need someone or something to blame and ask God why?

Even atheists will say why bad things happen all around us, it’s a good question and one I will answer.

So why do bad things happen?

We were not made mindless robots that know only to follow instruction and to do well. Our free will has been sadly abused, mankind has been the cause of its own downfall. For many worldwide problems, we only have ourselves to blame. We have poverty and starvation, and then blame God for doing something about it. Research has proven there is enough food, to see every person on the planet fed with abundance.

We are greedy, there is enough money to see every person live a wonderful life of great wealth. It is a fact there are more resource’s given to us by God than we need on this planet, yet we blame the creator for bad stewardship of mankind. We then look up and ask why Lord is their war?

Science backs up the claim the earth was designed to be temporary. God allows temporary bounded evil, God wants a relationship with all that he created, which is the total message of the bible truth absolute and love. Yet it’s mankind that started all the wars not God. Humanity creates its own mess and tragedy then our eyes are closed to reality and we question God why he lets all this happen. We want free will, to be able to reject God ourselves to wallow in our own pity and sorrow then we expect the Lord to dictate our decisions and force everyone to do well. God is not the creator of evil and suffering, everything was created good. The Almighty is love and gave us the ability to love through free will. Love always involves a choice, we choose to love or not. Because we twisted our free will we brought moral evil and natural evil into the world. Moral evil is pain and suffering, through all our actions, and because we are sinners. We are actually the cause and destruction of ourselves and the planet. Natural evil is all the natural disasters like floods, earthquakes etc. Nature’s balance was ripped apart disease and revolt followed, corruption to the fine balance of order was broken. God did not create evil but does allow it, evil has no existence it’s just the absence of good like cold does not exist, it’s just absence of heat, as darkness is just the absence of light. We choose good as we have a choice or free will, we also choose badly.

Romans 8:22

“For we know that the whole creation groans and labors with birth pangs together until now.”

Remember God created everything very good and made humankind in his image.

Genesis 1:31

“Then God saw everything that He had made, and indeed it was very good. So the evening and the morning were the sixth day.

If God exists then Satan has to exist to think about it logically. We find it hard to see him real, look at our idea of him, a big red demon with horns and a pitchfork, when we then see the evil in the world, it’s not so hard to believe then, is it?

We had the potential for evil through the tree of knowledge and we choose it. We have the potential to love and be joyful, what more of an act of love is there to send yourself in human form, as Jesus Christ to suffer great pain and tribulation to achieve redemption?

God is a Spirit, he has always existed. The Trinity is part of a deeper plan for Man’s salvation. God above us, God among us, God within us. What does this mean?

God is above, Jesus came among us, and the Holy Spirit dwells inside us once born again.

Bible clearly says:

Matthew 4:1

“Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the Devil.”

Psalm 106:37

“They even sacrificed their sons and daughters to Demons, and shed innocent blood.”

Revelation 2:10

“Do not fear any of those things you are about to suffer, Indeed the Devil is about to throw some of you into prison that you may be tested, and you will have tribulation ten days. Be faithful until death, and I will give you the crown of life.”

Revelation 12:10

“Then I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our god and the power of his Christ have come, for the accuser of our brethren, who accused them before our God day and night has been cast down.”

Satan wants to steal, kill, and destroy. This red demon suddenly becomes more real, God is the very thing we need in that situation to comfort us, to carry us through.

Things happen to us that are not our fault, they are also not Gods fault. We can push him away, or get angry and look for people to blame, or let him bring good into all our situations. Open your eyes and let the Lord Jesus Christ pull us through all of the life’s struggles. Why do good things happen, it’s not all bad?

We fall in Love, God is Love.

A child is born this is a beautiful expression of bringing life into the world, we laugh, weep with joy, but never grasp God is Joy. The creator fashioned us because he loved us, we sinned but he did not destroy us but gave us instruction how to live a moral life on earth. We rebelled, and he sent the flood, to wipe evil of the planet. We start again, we rebelled again. He led his chosen people to the Promised Land because he loves mankind, we rebelled again. You can see the theme here. What is the ultimate sacrifice then for loving us?

He sends Jesus in human form, to die on the cross for our sins. Who was Jesus?

Jesus was God, the visible image of an invisible god. What did Jesus do when he walked the earth?

Spread the word of God, healed the sick, loved and performed many miracles to show God cares for all of us. What did we do?

Persecute and use our free will to torture, the very person sent to love us back to God, and we say God does not love. We have ourselves to blame for everything, and only faith in our Lord Jesus Christ can truly open your mind to a true understanding of the fall of mankind.

So what is s true understanding of suffering let’s go deeper on this subject?

Faith is general to most only needed in bad times. Most people when they are about to die to think of their mortality and is their life after death. People pray for loved ones who are injured or might have a life threatening operation. What we can say is faith is not just a circumstance it is full-time.

As we move towards more terrorism, killings and disasters we need more faith than ever to stand firm in Christ. All mankind should realise that without faith we will not survive the hardship to come in tribulation. Christ wants all of his children to repent their sins and believe in the gospel message of the bible.

God is calling but few are listening to live inside us through his spirit. Mankind needs to give back what we receive with material things on earth. Remember the creator gave his Son to die for you.

Acts 20:35

“I have shown you in every way, by laboring like this, that you must support the weak. And remember the words of the Lord Jesus, that He said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.”

We have to sacrifice everything to the Lord and endure hardship to come to reap rewards in heaven:

2 Timothy 2:3-4

“You, therefore, must endure hardship as a good soldier of Jesus Christ. No one engaged in warfare entangles himself with the affairs of this life, that he may please him who enlisted him as a soldier.”

Faith and action bring security and peace of mind, salvation brings eternity with the creator.

Don’t you want Jesus to bless you on his return?

Matthew 25:21

His lord said to him, “Well done, good and faithful servant; you were faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.”

Poverty affects a 3rd of all people on earth, from basic water, sanitation and shelter and brings suffering to 2 billion people day after day is this God’s fault?

Why does the creator allow war, terrorism and violence?

Many people only address the bad effects happening today and not what is the true cause.

God has great power and understanding and we need The Holy Spirit to teach us his ways. God’s Spirit is long-suffering, this means the Lord suffers for us that he created, in Genesis he grieved for mankind:

Genesis 6:6

“And the Lord was sorry that He had made man on the earth, and He was grieved in His heart.”

Numbers 14:18

“The Lord is long-suffering and abundant in mercy, forgiving iniquity and transgression; but He by no means clears the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children to the third and fourth generation.”

When mankind suffers God suffers. The creator is a Father and we are his children. So why does God allow suffering if he suffers?

Because the world is cut off from God and he is not working with the masses yet. The Lord is teaching us that if you keep his commandments we have a relationship with him if we don’t we fall further away from him. Spiritual laws keep us safe, material laws move us away from protection.

If we are made in the image of a God and the creator suffers we are being taught the values of a parent and the effects of our own caused suffering because we can’t follow instructions.

Ecclesiastes 7:14

“In the day of prosperity be joyful,

But in the day of adversity consider:

Surely God has appointed the one as well as the other,

So that man can find out nothing that will come after him.

I have seen everything in my days of vanity.”

God tells us he made us to face adversity and to consider where we went wrong:

Ecclesiastes 7:2-3

“Better to go to the house of mourning

Than to go to the house of feasting,

For that is the end of all men;

And the living will take it to heart.

Sorrow is better than laughter,

For by a sad countenance the heart is made better.”

Physical life is designed to require suffering by God. Most want to be in a state of party all their life and give little regard for their body or affects they cause to others. God tells us Christ learned obedience through what he suffered. This is a strong verse, The Lord is telling us to be obedient when we suffer:

Hebrews 5:8

“Though He was a Son, yet He learned obedience by the things which He suffered.”

Man naturally blames others and not why he himself is the cause for it, we then blame God for everything.

Atheists love to mock and say God does not exist because how can he allow children to die in all manners of horrible deaths on earth today?

Hebrews 2:10

“For it was fitting for Him, for whom are all things and by whom are all things, in bringing many sons to glory, to make the captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings.”

Jesus was made perfect through his suffering on the Cross and became the author of salvation for all that obey him. Why is this so difficult for mankind to accept and understand?

Why can’t we obey laws?

Why can’t we believe and obey God and his government?

Christians are no different we suffer for God:

1 Peter 2:21

“For this is commendable, if because of conscience toward God one endures grief, suffering wrongfully. For what credit is it if, when you are beaten for your faults, you take it patiently? But when you do good and suffer, if you take it patiently, this is commendable before God.”

Christians are the mirror of Christ and have to suffer and endure grief like anyone else:

1 Peter 2:19-20

“For this is commendable, if because of conscience toward God one endures grief, suffering wrongfully. For what credit is it if, when you are beaten for your faults, you take it patiently? But when you do good and suffer, if you take it patiently, this is commendable before God.”

It may be hard for some people to understand but suffering is acceptable to God for us to learn. Character strengthens the person to endure it. If we endure with the indwelled Holy Spirit God helps us through adversity. If we die in suffering we are rewarded in heaven for the character of Christ we have built up. If we are dead with Christ we shall also live with Christ:

2 Timothy 2:11-12

“And for this reason, God will send them strong delusion, that they should believe the lie, that they all may be condemned who did not believe the truth but had pleasure in unrighteousness.”

Suffering is a process that we will experience for a short time. If we had kept God’s word from the start of creation we would never have known what suffering is. The Lords Word and purpose brings us back to reality for life to follow his mandate, be born again, and except Christ for salvation.

6000 years of suffering for mankind and we still blame God for it. The plain message is if you ignore the creator and his laws you cannot function as the image of Christ.

In The Old Testament Job is an example for mankind today read and understand this scripture properly:

Job 1:8

“Then the Lord said to Satan, “Have you considered My servant Job, that there is none like him on the earth, a blameless and upright man, one who fears God and shuns evil?”

Job was the most righteous ever and the most patient in his suffering. Satan tried to bring terrible suffering on Job if he was permitted to do so. The Devil destroyed most of his precious possessions but Job never once blamed God.

Job 2:1-5

“There was a man in the land of Uz, whose name was Job; and that man was blameless and upright, and one who feared God and shunned evil. And seven sons and three daughters were born to him. Also, his possessions were seven thousand sheep, three thousand camels, five hundred yoke of oxen, five hundred female donkeys, and a very large household, so that this man was the greatest of all the people of the East. And his sons would go and feast in their houses, each on his appointed day, and would send and invite their three sisters to eat and drink with them. So it was, when the days of feasting had run their course, that Job would send and sanctify them, and he would rise early in the morning and offer burnt offerings according to the number of them all. For Job said, “It may be that my sons have sinned and cursed God in their hearts.” Thus Job did regularly.”

God allowed Satan to affect his health but had the last laugh on the devil he could not control his life. Satan had limits but Job endured and did not sin with his lips once.

Job 2:10

“But he said to her, “You speak as one of the foolish women speaks. Shall we indeed accept good from God, and shall we not accept adversity?” In all this Job did not sin with his lips.”

So why did God allow Job to suffer?

If you do not already understand why it was part of God’s master plan. Complete faith in the Lord is key to understanding suffering.

Christians are purposed by God to develop character which takes a lifetime to be born sons of God. Suffering is part of this, learning to suffer brings us understanding and life:

Romans 8:18

Suffering to Glory

“For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.”

Our suffering pales in reflection to Christ. Ask yourself could you suffer in the Cross like Jesus did for someone you love?

Eternal life awaits and eternal happiness without suffering.

Have you learnt the true understanding of suffering?

Do you still blame God after reading this article?

Faith in God works do you have faith?

Ecclesiastes 7:14

“In the day of prosperity be joyful,

But in the day of adversity consider: Surely God has appointed the one as well as the other,

So that man can find out nothing that will come after him.”

Good times are always followed by bad times that’s life:

Psalm 30:5

“For His anger is but for a moment,

His favor is for life;

Weeping may endure for a night,

But joy comes in the morning.”

Mankind blames, yet God teaches that blame falls on himself and himself only. The law of God is there for a reason.

Spiritual laws or material laws what will you choose?
