Faith And The Soul Part One
Many ask what is faith?
God designed a way to distinguish between those who belong to Him and those who don’t, and it is called faith. God tells us that it pleases Him that we believe what we can’t see. Faith is essential to Christianity and true Christians. Faith is like a seed If you plant a seed and nourish it, it will grow and eventually bear fruit. If we truly have a relationship with God, believe in Christ, faith will grow inside us blooming spiritual fruits. The Hebrew word translated as faith Emunah, derived from the Hebrew root Aman, meaning to nourish, to make firm and strong is perhaps better translated as faithfulness or loyalty.
Adam and Eve failed their test of faith. They trusted what they saw rather than believing what God said and became the first example of mankind choosing to walk by sight rather than by faith. Mankind has followed this example ever since, proving that Adam and Eve’s faithlessness is but a trait of every human heart apart from true born again Christians. Faith is increased by drawing closer to God through prayer and the study of His Word, the bible. Living faith is not just believing that God exists, it is demonstrated by one’s service and obedience to God. God will increase our faith if we fervently ask Him for it and seek to draw closer to him in prayer and scriptural readings. So let’s go deeper in this topic:
“But without faith, it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.”
Without faith, we cannot please the Father. The world is in trouble and people need a strong faith and a leader in Christ to have a relationship with God. Mankind is separated from the spiritual realm due to sin, ask yourself do you have a relationship with the creator like a lover or like a happily married couple?
Spending quality time with the Lord the Word can nourish the human soul but the spirit of God is different.
Many people are clever but do not have the guide of The Holy Spirit.
Ask yourself when Jesus will return will he find true faith on this planet?
“I tell you that He will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless, when the Son of Man comes, will He really find faith on the earth?”
True faith is being eroded all the time on this earth. Technology and science have damaged our thinking putting the seed of doubt and the message of confusion in our minds, but God is not the author of confusion:
1 Corinthians 14:33
“For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints.”
A recent study by Wendy Griffith a Senior Reporter for the Christian Broadcasting Network based in Virginia found that 60 percent of Americans cannot name half the 10 commandments and 63 percent cannot name the four Gospels found in The New Testament in the bible, yet America has more Holy bibles owned than anywhere around the world.
Christians have The Holy Spirit which in turn gives us his characteristics to go about our modern lives:
“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, long-suffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law.”
“So then, those who are in the flesh cannot please God.
But you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. Now if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he is not His.”
1 Corinthians 13:13
“And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love.”
“There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called in one hope of your calling; one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.”
The bible in Ephesians said there is only one kind of faith so what exactly is this?
Is believing in Christ only regarded as faith?
Does scripture give one answer on what true faith is?
God gives us an answer:
“Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.”
The creator tells us faith is evidence of all things unseen. Mankind naturally believes in what it sees. We have five senses that prove to us what is real and can be proven, but most of us do not believe in God yet he tells us he is Living and cannot lie:
“In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began;”
God tells us to believe in him which is truth absolute and the evidence of faith leading to perfection in Christ:
“Therefore, leaving the discussion of the elementary principles of Christ, let us go on to perfection, not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works and of faith toward God.”
Jesus made all this possible as faith he taught in his ministry. All mankind’s senses receive physical information. Faith is spiritual, not physical.
The spirit of God reworks the mind to renew the physical with an understanding that the material world is of no importance to God. Prayer and fasting feed the appetite for faith and to have a true relationship with the Father. Faith requires a level of commitment that goes beyond love, drawing us closer to the Lord and his guide The Holy Spirit. We have to trust in the Spirit of God and not in our five senses because we walk by faith, not by sight:
2 Corinthians 5:7
“For we walk by faith, not by sight.”
The spiritual understanding of this verse is hard for us to comprehend. God is Spirit and we are to worship him in Spirit and in truth, his faith is permanent and does not change like mankind does:
“But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind. For let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.”
When we struggle with human life and the deception of the Devil God tells us to take up the Shield of faith:
“above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one.”
Proverbs then strengthens this further telling us his words are our shield:
“Every word of God is pure;
He is a shield to those who put their trust in Him.
Do not add to His words,
Lest He rebuke you, and you be found a liar.”
So a lack of faith makes it impossible to please him and our shield is not raised to protect us.
Confidence in the creator is not walking by sight. The bible is an instruction book that proves what is good, acceptable, the way of truth, and the perfect will of God-given to mankind created in his image to understand the power of The Holy Spirit.
Knowledge of the Lord brings confidence and wisdom, God is willing to do so much for all mankind if they spend quality time having a relationship with him as he wants with us. Humans have always had their own ideas that they think is best taking bible verses at face value only and interpreting as they deem fit:
2 Peter 1:20
“knowing this first, that no prophecy of Scripture is of any private interpretation, for prophecy.”
Is faith enough for salvation?
Human nature we are our own God’s, we do not want to obey a God we can’t see that’s if we believe in one in the first place:
“By the law (for not the hearers of the law are just in the sight of God, but the doers of the law will be justified.”
“For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.”
Sin is a transgression of the law:
“Therefore, by the deeds of the law, no flesh will be justified in His sight, for by the law is the knowledge of sin.”
The whole purpose of the creators laws is to point out sin:
“What does it profit, my brethren, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can faith save him?”
“Do you see that faith was working together with his works, and by works faith was made perfect? And the Scripture was fulfilled which says, “Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness.” And he was called the friend of God. You see then that a man is justified by works, and not by faith only.”
“Every word of God is pure;
He is a shield to those who put their trust in Him.”
Faith must be accompanied by works.
Leaders of the world allow mankind to break God’s laws and corrupt, some ministers deceive mankind.
God’s mandate is holy, spiritual and necessary as the foundation for us to have faith forever. We are to love the Lord Jesus Christ fulfilling his statutes.
1 John 2:4
He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. And the light shines in the darkness.
Faith in Christ makes us able to keep God’s mandate with the guidance of The Holy Spirit and walk in Jesus footsteps. Entering into a spiritual relationship with the creator we can be saved and not worship Christ in vain.
“Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven.”
1 Timothy 6:12
“Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, to which you were also called and have confessed the good confession in the presence of many witnesses.”
Faith is a spiritual war between the material and the spiritual all throughout our lives. Faith if we believe it or not is a way of life.
“Here is the patience of the saints; here are those who keep the commandments of God and the faith of Jesus.”
“Behold the proud,
His soul is not upright in him;
But the just shall live by his faith.”
“Now the just shall live by faith;
But if anyone draws back,
My soul has no pleasure in him.”
“For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, “The just shall live by faith.”
Faith is general to most only needed in bad times. Most people when they are on their death-bed think of their mortality and is there life after death?
People pray for loved ones in time of need, what about people who were on a plane that happened recently losing altitude and about to plunge into the ocean?
What we can say is this faith is not just a circumstance it is full-time. As we move towards the end-times terrorism, killings, and destruction is on the rise, and we need true faith more than ever to stand firm in trials yet to come.
Christ wants all of his children to repent their sins and believe in the Gospel message of the bible, God is calling but few are listening to live inside us through his spirit. Mankind needs to give back to the creator more than what we receive with material things on this planet. God gave us his Son for us never forget that.
“I have shown you in every way, by laboring like this, that you must support the weak. And remember the words of the Lord Jesus, that He said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.”
We have to sacrifice everything to God and endure hardship to come to reap rewards in heaven:
2 Timothy 2:3-4
“You, therefore, must endure hardship as a good soldier of Jesus Christ. No one engaged in warfare entangles himself with the affairs of this life, that he may please him who enlisted him as a soldier.”
Faith and action bring security and peace of mind, while salvation ensures eternity with the Lord. Don’t you want Jesus to bless you on his return?
“His lord said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant; you were faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.”
We are all made in the image of God, heirs, and joint heirs with Christ this is an amazing thought and one we should embrace with joy.
Our inheritance is waiting to be received back that we tragically lost. Flesh and blood cannot inherit the Kingdom of God only true faith and the spiritual way can pass through the narrow way. God will test all mankind with faith and Satan will try to erode what is built up. The beautiful Holy Spirit is there for all mankind to bestow fruits on those souls who ask and believe like faith, meekness, love, peace, joy, and much more. The Spirit can also give gifts to a few people like healing, faith, wisdom, prophecy and much more to be used for the good of Christ.
Faith is both a fruit and a gift of the Spirit, we can all attain the very same Spirit that was once in Jesus Christ if we embrace him.
Never be fearful because faith in Christ overcomes all obstacles.
“Faith can be seen through your vision, your smile, and by what you give.”
A devoted follower of Christ.
